General Piercing Info In this section we will provide general information about piercing and the body jewelry. You can jump to more specific information by clicking on the link bellow.
The body jewelry comes in deferent sizes and shapes. The thickness of the shaft is measured in gauges (Ga) and the length is measured in inches. The thicker shaft is the less gauge number it has. Please read more about piercing type you are interested in for information on suitable sizes. The most common size though is 14 Ga and for Labrets and Eyebrows is 16 Ga. The common material is 316L surgical steel. It's safe to use for most people. But it has small amount of Nickel and some people are allergic to it. For them it's recommended to use Titanium or Niobium jewelry. The Titanium and Niobium are the best for initial piercing but they are more expensive. For initial piercing we recommend to use light jewelry, No danglers as it will increase the chances of growing out. Also it's not recommended to use gold or silver for initial piercing. The initial piercing is done with needles. Some pierciers will do it with a piercing gun but it gives more problems. It causes more damage to the skin around piercing and also it's hard to sterilize it. Here at MrPiercing.com we sell piercing needles. They are sterile and you do not need to autoclave them. If you decided to buy them please make sure that you know what you are doing. We will not be responsible for any injury. Also we will not sell needles to anyone younger 18. You must ask your parents to buy them. There are different types of the jewelry: Plugs, Barbell, Captive bead ring (CBR, BCR or captive), Circular Barbell (Horse Show), Curved barbell, Labret, Banana (Navel Jewelry), Twists (spiral). Usually you can substitute one type of jewelry with another. Just use common sense and think how would you wear it before buying. |
